By downloading or using Voice Note Keeper, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them before using the app. If you do not agree, do not install or use Voice Note Keeper.

The App and Who Provides It

Voice Note Keeper (“the App”) is an Android mobile application developed and maintained by Programmer.co.za (“we”, “us”, “our”).

The App allows users to record, organise, play back, transcribe, and back up voice notes on their Android device.

Licence to Use the App

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Voice Note Keeper on your personal Android device for your own personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works based on the App or any part of it.

Free Tier and In-App Purchase

Voice Note Keeper is free to download and includes 25 free recordings. To record beyond this limit, a one-time in-app unlock purchase is required.

The purchase is processed by Google Play Billing. We do not handle or store your payment details. All purchases are subject to Google Play’s payment terms and refund policy.

The unlock purchase is tied to your Google Play account. If you reinstall the app or switch devices, you may restore your purchase through Google Play at no additional cost by tapping the purchase option — Google Play will recognise the existing purchase and unlock the app without charging you again.

All sales are final once processed by Google Play, subject to Google Play’s own refund policy. We do not issue refunds directly.

Google Drive Backup Feature

The App offers an optional backup and restore feature using Google Drive. By enabling this feature, you authorise the App to store a backup file in a private, app-specific folder in your Google Drive account.

You are responsible for maintaining access to the Google account used for backup. We are not liable for loss of backup data resulting from loss of Google account access, Google account deletion, or changes to Google’s services.

Use of this feature is also subject to Google’s Terms of Service.

Your Content and Responsibility

All voice recordings and transcripts created using Voice Note Keeper are your own content. You retain full ownership of your recordings.

You are solely responsible for the content of your recordings. You must not use Voice Note Keeper to record conversations or individuals without the consent required under the laws of your jurisdiction.

We do not access, review, or store your recordings on any server. Your content remains on your device and, if enabled, in your own Google Drive account.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Voice Note Keeper to:

record any person without their knowledge or consent where required by law
record content that is illegal, threatening, defamatory, or infringes the rights of others
attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the App
use the App in any way that violates applicable local, national, or international law

Intellectual Property

Voice Note Keeper, including its design, code, graphics, and name, is the intellectual property of Programmer.co.za. All rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved.

The Whisper speech recognition model used for on-device transcription is developed by OpenAI and is subject to its own licence terms. The model is downloaded to your device and used locally; we do not claim ownership of it.

Disclaimer of Warranties

Voice Note Keeper is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of bugs. We are not responsible for any loss of recordings due to device failure, software errors, or any other cause.

You are responsible for maintaining your own backups of important recordings.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Programmer.co.za shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, loss of recordings, or loss of profits, arising from your use of or inability to use Voice Note Keeper.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the in-app unlock purchase, if any.

Third-Party Services

Voice Note Keeper integrates with third-party services including Google Play Billing, Google Sign-In, and Google Drive. Your use of those services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of third-party services.

Changes to the App or Terms

We may update Voice Note Keeper or these Terms of Service at any time. Updated Terms will be posted at the active URL where these Terms are hosted, and the “Last updated” date will be revised.

Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to updated Terms, you should stop using the App.

Termination

You may stop using Voice Note Keeper at any time by uninstalling it from your device.

We reserve the right to discontinue the App or restrict access at any time, with or without notice. In such an event, your locally stored recordings will remain on your device and are unaffected.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of South Africa.
